Black Hair Growth!! Help!!?

Here's the deal I want to stop getting relaxers, and I haven't had one since March. I have new growth . I wash my hair once a week and straighten it and I put stuuf on it so the flat iron diesn't damage it. I use Mayo in my hair as a deep conditioner and it is softer now. But I want to grow my hair longer maybe to my shoulders. Can you provide me with tips or products that you have used that make your hair grow longer?Do pills work?Does anybody have any suggestions as to what I can do. My hair grows veryslow by the way.I have a protein rich diet with lots of fruits and veggies. Please help I would like to grow my hair out for the summer.

  • Black Hair Growth Tips?

Hi, im not bald headed or anything...Just have a problem with hair growth

my hair grows so0o0oo slow and it also breaks easily

i came across this website: look plz... http://www.ubhpublications.com/hairGrowth/HairGrowth.html

her name is cathy howse and i read about her products and i also read some of the testimonals from people who brought her product. do you think this is ligit?

should i try her product or just use her method.( not cutting your ends and keeping your hair washed ever 3-4 days and also keeping it moisturized)

and im really strict about clipping my ends..I hate it beacuse i never get a chance to see the new growth.

I currently have braids which have been in for 3 months now and they look fab i must say ( due to me getting them done over and over). I dont plan on taking them out until august

can any body give me any tips???? is cathy's program a fake?

    tell meBlack Hair Growth Tips?
I'm natural, and don't use her products, but I've heard really good things about Cathy Howse's books and products from women who relax.

Anyway, you don't have to buy any of her stuff to grow your hair. For example, I'm growing my hair to waist length using Giovanni conditioner/water to moisturize, and I wash and deep condition with whatever I have on hand. I've only had 1 trim since I started growing out my hair, because since I moisturize often, my ends stay moist and healthy.

I will try to give you some types that I've picked up, though:

    * Stretch your relaxers! This seems to be one of the golden rules w/ relaxed women. Stretch for at least 8 weeks, if you can.

    * Moisturize!

    * Deep condition at least once a month. I DC at least once a week, though.

    * Avoid petroleum-based products. That stuff ain't nothing but grease.

    * Wash/Clarify as needed. If you develop product build-up on our scalp/hair often, you'll need to wash/clarify more often. If you don't, you'll clog you're scalp, and/or your products may cease being effective.

    * Limit heat! Try to greatly reduce your heat use, if you use it. I flat-iron about 2x/year. I blow-dry every couple of months; no more than 6x/year though. Using a hooded dry is okay, because it's indirect heat.

    * Protect your ends! This is the oldest and IMO, the most important part of your hair. If your ends are forever dry, and break off, you won't ever see any length.

.....there's more, but those are most of the basics, and I don't want to write a novel on YA...*smiles*

Also, there are forums dedicated to women of color who want to grow their hair out. I participate on Long Hair Care Forum. You have to pay to actually post, but it's free to view all the Hair Information. http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/鈥?/a>

There is also Black Hair Media. I don't participate here, but I've heard good things about this site: http://forum.blackhairmedia.com/

I'm assuming you're relaxed, but if you ever want to venture on the nappy side *smiles*, come to Nappturality.

    http://www.nappturality.com/forum/Black Hair Growth Tips?
its hard to say whether cathy's program is fake or not. some things work for some women and some dont. have you ever thought taking hair vitamins?

they are vitamins that help your hair grown faster and stronger. my cousin has been taking them for about 6 months and she's had a pretty good amount of growth.

    hope i helped. =)
braids can pull your hair out

    especially if they are tight

    when growing out your hair

get a hair cut about every three months when you have slow growing hair

good circulation helps hair grow.. so massage your scalp often

    and

blood nourishes your hair so exercise more than usual

everyone is different.. so remember.. your individuality

    Black hair growth??

hi im african american and my hair is a little past shoulder lenght but my fronts of my hair is longer than my back cuz i used to ponytail my hair so much that it broke off and it got thinner cuz i never moisturized it last summer. it SHOULD be down my back right now but i never took care of it properly. right now the back of my hair is really thick and i have a relaxer the just for me texturizer aka the sunflower relaxer and i just started washing, conditioning, and doing hot oil treatments on my hair every week since jan. but i wanted to know what i should do to help my hair grow better and faster so that i can get it to the length that it should be at right now and to help the back grow and get even?? please answer thanks.!Black hair growth??
I had the same problem but instead of the back breaking out the front started breaking. Since your hair is damaged, you will need to trim the ends, make sure who ever trim your ends comb your hair straight down and trim the bottom and also trim THROUGH your hair not just the bottom. You will then need to condition your hair and keep your scalp oiled. Stop wearing pony tails (I know its hard) for a while and don't use alot of heat on your hair.Black hair growth??
if u can find shampoo with out the sodium larfate sultrate (sp?) it will make ur hair healthy n grow alot better. theres some at health store n i hear a new one is going to be on paid programs soon. that ingredient is a soap/stripper n lathers. it makes it brittle. i had it(cream syle shampoo with out that ingretient) once but it was 10.00 a bottle. i could tell a big diff in just 2 days. good luck
Well, theres the hairgrowth oil on this site-

exp though- but made a difference in 2 weeks- something geisha used.

A friend of mine who's black used it too- and hers grew way slower than mine- After a month later, I saw her, and it was longer and bit thicker - I mean noticeably longer

And hmm, we both love their eyelash lengthern - my lashes are va-va-voom now, and she stopped mascara too.

    BLACK HAIR GROWTH.....?

ok so i used 2 have really long hair when i was young but ppl kept thinkin i was a girl so i cut it nd have been ever since{started at 6 now 15}but now i wanna grow it long again {i havent got a cut in a month}i have a mini fro right now but i wanna know about how long it will take to have it at a braid-able length because school starts in two months is that long enough for that it 2 be at a braid-able length?{that would be three months}also does any one have any black hair care tips? also i am a dark skinned black dude do you tou think dark skinned dudes would still look ok with long hair?BLACK HAIR GROWTH.....?
yah i have an older cousin who has long wavy hair and he is dark complected. hair usually grows 1/2'; a monthh.

so hope i helped(:BLACK HAIR GROWTH.....?
Keep straightening it to keep it longer and after a while, by straightening it, it stretches your hair which makes it longer. I also helps to keep it out of water a lot and to keep putting hair lotion and grease on it. That is what I did last summer and now and my hair cut when I was little and it was right above my shoulder. But right before school started, my hair was below shoulder-length. I hope I helped!!!

i would say try wild growth oil it worked for me for a while. i dont know if ur hair is healther becasue it would work better.Black Hair Growth Products.......? Do they Really Make Our Hair Grow????
I have found that natural products work best such as vatika oil, can be purchased at amazon.com which has coconut oil in it. Use the coconut oil on the ends of your hair especially. I have been using this product and it works pretty well. Also if you use heat on your hair at all I would suggest cutting that down to a minimum that will help keep breakage at bay.
I use the entire line of doo-gro wash my wash once a week, brush my hair 30/45 min every day use a satin wrap and pilliow case and take GNC Hair Skin %26amp; Nail vitmain and I have about 2 inches of grow a month I swear by the doo-gro and GNC if you want email me and I will give your further details
no i used all of those products and they just take my hair out thats y i stopped using them it has too much stuff in them half of the stufgf u cant even read so i went to usen royal crown it only has petrolatum, olive oil,and fragrance and its been workin for me dont get into all that other stuff it just takes ur hair out by dryin
haha, lame.how is it possible to buy something to make ur hair grow faster?its IMPOSSIBLE.is there something to make me grow taller and taller?no.thas wat i thought.
Lavender oil has been shown to increase hair growth so massage the oil once a week and soak for 30 minutes before washing. Try http://solutionsforhairgrowth.blogspot.c鈥?/a> for more details.

    Black Hair growth question?

Is my regimen good enough to grow my hair long and healthy? I have relaxed hair that's chin length because i trimmed it *:)

    Nu-Gro Shampoo (1st rinse)

    Nu-Gro Conditioner

    Carols Daughter Shampoo (2nd rinse)

Aphogee Keratin 2 minute Re constructor

I plan to purchase: ChI silk infusion, and possibly the Aphogee Leave-in Moisturizer.

Since I just started my hair regimen, I plan to stay away from heat completely, massage my scalp, wear protective hair styles, stretch my perm for 6 months, and trim my edges.

Any more suggestions?Black Hair growth question?
Lavender oil - It is a popular oil for hair growth. It has been proved that application of lavender oil on regular basis has a significant effect on the growth of hair.

Jojoba oil - This hair oil can be used if your hair type is dry. Jajoba oil will help to moisturize your dry hair when applied on regular basis. It can also be used before shampooing your hair to get a tangle free soft hair.

Olive oil - Olive oil when applied on regular basis helps to strengthen your hair and improve the hair quality. This is because it helps to reduce the stress and also provide elasticity to your hair.

Castor oil - Commonly used for hair growth. However this oil is very sticky so it can also be used in combination with other hair oils like coconut oil or almond oil for best results.

Coconut oil - Coconut oil is commonly used for dry and damaged hair as it provides appropriate lubricant. The different nutrients in coconut oil like calcium, iron, potassium and magnesium provide good nourishment for the hair.

Almond oil - Almond oil helps to repair and strengthen your hair.Black Hair growth question?
You must be looking at youtube with Ateyaaa. I went out and bought all that aphogee stuff from watching the hair regime. Then it was the nu-gro regime. I couldn't spend anymore money to buy nu-gro. and before i bought that aphogee stuff i waited a while and watched all those you tube videos. I don't know if i'm gonna keep that aphogee stuff or sell the rest of it. Just buy what works for your hair. Im still trying to figure out what is good for my hair.

    Questions about black hair growth.....?

is it true dat sweat makes your hair grow fast???

is it true dat to much combing of the hair will prevent growth???

is doo gro the best product for hair growth???Questions about black hair growth.....?
NOt washing your hair too much can grow your hair.. black hair grows better when it is ';dirty'; Even if you are a guy get your split ends trimmed it will make your hair grow and it will grow evenly. For guys and girls having braids makes it grows as well..when having braids do not have add any extensions to it...fake hair breaks it off!!Questions about black hair growth.....?
No sweat does not make your hair grow. If anything it just clogs your pores on your head as well as hair follicles. Then it just dries on top of your scalp making your hair dirty. clean hair and follicles are the way to go. Even with using doo gro, which I do use and my hair has grown about 3 inches in the past six months, you still need to wash it out every few days. Because like sweat, any oil will dry and clog your pores however it does stimulate your roots to promote hair growth. In addition to doo gro oil I use Hair Strengthener by BB. You apply before you comb (which too much of will break off your hair) or apply heat to hair. This is great to accompany doo gro because it keeps the hair that has grown from breaking off. Now as far as combing - if you have medium to long hair you really should start from the tip to the root when combing. it detangles so much better that way. you'll be surprised what a difference you will see in your hair growth just by doing this alone. It keeps your hair from breaking as well. Hope these tips helped.

clipping your ends does not make you hair grow. That's just a myth ,you can ask any hair sylist. Doesn't really make anyway because your hair grows from the root not the tips. Hair is just dead cells. Its the root of the hair that ';alive'; -for the lack of better words
doo gro doesnt work me and my friends white latinos and blacks used it and our hair was still the same.dont be fool by the name okay and if some one say doo gro works on their hair!! ha ha its their imagination. u know what will help for hair growth is cocunut oil get it from a indian community. sue garneir shampoos and conditioner
    nope, nope, and don't know.
Doo grow is pretty good.. Nexxus emergecy is pretty good and so is dr.miracles.
no,no, and no that oily petroleum filled crap will clog your pores and possible make it grow it even slower. I don't know where people got the idea that dirty hair grows. I does not clean hair grows much better than dirty hair.
I don't know about sweat making your hair grow faster. if anything, I would think it would slow the process. I would think that when sweat dries along with the oils of the scalp and the dirt that is naturally attracted to oil would clog the opening that the hair grows out of.

Combing hair too much means tension on your hair and possibly four scalp as well. This can cause hair loss. I would advise combing on an ad hoc basis.

I hear doo gro works wonders (my mom loves it), but I have never tried it myself.
african pride is one of the best products i've ever used(hair mayonaise)

to much combing causes the hair to break(that why dreads grow so long)

sweat doesn't make your hair grow(clean hair grows the fastest)
The rate of your hair growth is genetic. To make your hair at it's healthiest rate, do the following:

    - eat properly - lots of green leafy veggies

    - drink lots of water

    - exercise

    - make sure you get enough sleep (hair only grows when you're sleeping!)

    to answer your questions:

no - sweat doesn't make hair grow

no - too much combing doens't prevent growth. it just breaks the hair you already have

no - doo gro may not be the best product for your hair. there is no one super product that works wonders for everybody

okay so my hair is a little below shoulder length. and i really wanna make it grow cause my mom said if it doesnt grow then vshes gonna braid it and i REALLY dont want her to braid it. so help please. if there is any greases or websites or vitamins i need to take i dont care ill buy it i just want healthy long hair.Black Hair Growth?!!! HELP!?
their is no Miracle product. you need to take care of your hair and get ride of damage.

Wash and condition your hair every 4 to 7 days. Try to use mild and gentle shampoo and conditioner Using a deep conditioner that contains both protein and moisture once per week is ideal. Hair must always be treated with a leave-in conditioner after every wash. Comb the wet hair with a wide tooth comb or shower/detangling comb and when hair is drinched with conditioner.

For those who need to wash more frequently than every 4-7 days, cowashing is an excellent alternative to the wash/condition. Cowashing is washing your hair with a lightweight preferably)moisturizing conditioner, eliminating the shampoo step which can be very drying to hair when done relatively too frequently. Many with relaxed hair cowash daily. For best results, simply rinse the hair well with warm water, and apply conditioner to the hair, starting about 2 inches away from the scalp, and smooth it through to the ends. Apply more to the ends if they are dry. Avoid applying conditioner to the scalp unless it is dry. Rinse conditioner very well.

It is best to avoid using heat to dry your hair, especially if the relaxed hair is somewhat damaged. However, if your hair is healthy and you prefer heat, you can either blow dry the hair on low heat or use a hood dryer with magnetic rollers. The hair should be completely dry before you use a curling or flat iron on it. Make sure to use a heat protection product prior to any heat use.

When using a curling iron to style your hair, do not allow the barrel cover to clamp down on your hair. Hold the barrel cover slightly open and allow the hair to move over the curling iron barrel without the tugging and pulling caused by pressure from the barrel cover. Whenever the barrel cover clamps down on your hair it creates a weak point at which breakage is inevitable.

An ionic, ceramic curling iron or flat iron works well and is easy to find. You can also invest in heat appliances utilising tourmaline, ionic technology having temperature controls. Relaxed hair can be easily styled at 300 degrees or less. Try to use heat protective products (serums or creams, not oils) prior to any and all heat styling. Never use hair oil as a moisturizer as oil does NOT moisturize the hair but rather functions as a sealant (meaning it protects the cuticle layer from damage and moisture loss). If your hair is well conditioned you won't need any daily moisturizers at all--you can instead apply a small amount oil daily. For best results, choose a lightweight oil (such as jojoba, coconut, almond, or olive oil) rub a small amount (1-2 drops) in the palms and spread lightly through the hair, focusing on the ends of the hair and then work up toward the rest of the hair length. Applying a small amount of oil can act as a leave-in conditioner and provides excellent conditioning in preparation for the next shampooing.

Use as little heat as possible with your hair as heat can only do more damage to relaxed hair. It's ok to style your hair with a curling iron occasionally, however a rollerset is the best method. If you want to maintain a curly look over a few days, pincurling is a healthy option. Be sure to use hair-friendly pins and a satin bonnet to prevent dryness and breakage over night.

Water based moisturizers are best for all hair types, although leave-in conditioners can double as moisturizer for the hair. Avoid moisturizers with petrolatum and mineral oil unless you wash/condition and/or cowash regularly.

Applying a moisturizing conditioner to dry hair for 30 minutes to an hour and following with a warm/cool water rinse can help maintain the hair's moisture balance and make it more pliable.

*Babing your hair is the best thing you can do even if you could grow your hair faster it would break of before it could get longer. Healthy hair is a first.Black Hair Growth?!!! HELP!?
Nothing will ever make your hair growth rate faster. Eat healthier, exercise, and protective style to keep from breakage.

    Black hair growth tips?

I have shorter hair it's about a half inch past the nape of my neck I want to get it to my shoulders over the summer for freshman year. Do you think thats possible? if so,what are soem things I can do to have good, thick hair growth. I hva eit relaxed, would getting it spiral permed help?Black hair growth tips?
Massage your head. It helps the blood circulation in your head flow cause your hair to grow faster.Black hair growth tips?
perm's help to get your hair relaxed, but don't help it grow, due to its use of harsh chemicals. your best bet is to try getting [extension] braids, which will help give your hair a rest %26amp; also pull it from the scalp to help it grow faster. weaves will also do this. after braiding, frequently getting your ends cut helps new hair grow. keep away from grease, it only further damages your hair and weighs it down. gel with protein and deep conditioning cholestrol %26amp; mayonaise helps strengthen your hair %26amp; give it length. i hope this helps you :)

    Black Hair Growth?

I am black and have relaxed hair. My hair length is just touching the begining of my back. Also my hair is layered, and I have bangs. I'm taking care of it but I want it grow faster. Any tipsBlack Hair Growth?
Hair grows from inside out. You must have hair vitamins. Hair must be trimmed every 4-6 weeks. Conditioning always.

Some type of hair food or grease light to medium.Black Hair Growth?
There is 2 choices you can cut it all off and your hair will grow twice as fast as if you had a relaxer or you could take pills continuiesly. If you decide to start ocer and cut it of you could end up with hair like this http://www.naani.com/contents/media/drea鈥?/a> and straighten it occasinaly which will be quite long. Only if you take care of it and such. If you decide to cut it a off you can email me and i will give you more tips
My hair was shorter than yours and over a period of 4 years it was half way down my back (12 - 14 in long), but it dropped b/c of the intense humidity where I now reside.

I had to cut it and condition it. I hardly use heat irons and when I use a blow dryer I blow ONLY my roots, so my ends don't split. Every night I treat it with a light treatment on my roots and wrap it with a silk wrap.

I don't use gels, weaves, nor do I bleach my hair.

The main tip though is to always trim your hair every 6 weeks and condition it. You must see a difference.

    Black Hair Growth Products?

What are the best products for African American hair to grow quicker?Black Hair Growth Products?
There is no secret formula or magic products. It's all in genetics and maintenance. But you do have to find what ';works'; for your hair. The average person's hair grows 1/2 inch a month. It may appear that people with straight hair grows faster but people with a curly hair shaft may appear with shorter hair. That's just because the hair naturally draws up. Be nice to your hair, find what it and your scalp likes, and take good care of the ends to maintain length.

Make sure you have a good diet (fruit, veggies, stay away from junk and fried foods)

    Drink plenty of WATER

    Take a multi-vitamin

A lot of problems stem from a lack of moisture and overuse of protein (e.g. Infusium 23, Aphogee)

Remember, on average, hair only grows 1/2 inch per month so don't expect overnight results.

Ok..first u need some heat on your hair once a week...then use a good conditioner and message your scalp for 30mins a week...personally I wrap my hair @ night 4 2 reasons pillows pull out hair and wraping it means less tention**DONT PLAY IN YOUR HAIR...over brushing, combing, running your fingers through it**all of those should do the trick or @ least it did it 4 me...then I cut it because short hair is easier to deal withMy black hair growth? Opinions needed!!?
I would suggest minimal styling with heat. I don't think that using heat changes how fast your hair grows, but it definately can change how strong your hair is! Using heat to style can cause breakage of the hair shaft. But I wouldn't be too worried, I use heat on my hair often and it's still getting longer, lol.

Umm well I'm 13 and my hair is at my shoulders I'm African American and I want to grow my hair out to be just above chest and good products to recommend and any reviews on any products would be helpful thanksBlack hair growth foe young teenagers?
    first: drink more water

    shampoo/conditioners:

Creme Of Nature detangling conditioning shampoo

    Aussie Moist conditioner

or anything that is sulfate free or moisturizing

vitamins: choose only 2 of these and take one of them each a day (choose ONLY 2 of these vitamins)

biotin start out with 1000 mcg

    teen multivitamins

    hair skin %26amp; nails vitamins

    vitamin e

    vitamin b complex

    optional hair regimine:

-get rid of split ends. your hair will grow in evenly if you get rid of the split ends. plus it will look much healthier and grow alot easier.

-wash hair once or twice a week with a moisturizing conditioner or Creme of Nature detangling shampoo/conditioner. trust me on this one. no one wants a dirty scalp and expect it to grow.

-try to deep condition your your hair at least every 3 or 4 weeks

-try to only flat iron you hair once or twice a month. if you can't do that, try at least once or twice every two weeks.

-TRY TRY TRY please try to keep the ends of your hair off your clothes. you will retain length AND moisture and reduce breakage. try a donut bun, french braids or conrows (but not to tight). anything that will hide or keep the ends of your hair off your clothes.

try a good moisturizer for your roots and ends:

    -try olive oil hair creme

and wear a silk or satin scarf before going to bed. this will keep it shiny and moisturized =)

oh and last but not least:

-TRY to stretch your relaxers. basically, try to go at least 2 months or more without relaxing your hair. i know you're probably think it's hard but your hair will grow faster without the chemicals for awhile and your hair will thankyou for it. i stretch my relaxers every 3-4 months a year and i gain 3-4 inches while doing this. i wear buns while doing this.

if you can TRY to follow or keep up with this regimine, your hair will grow longer in no time. i KNOW because it took me 9 months to go from shoulder length to the middle of my back.

hope i helpedBlack hair growth foe young teenagers?
Patience is a virtue. You must also take vitamins because tests show that taking vitamins lengthens hair faster.
is your hair natural or permed theres a big difference

    Black hair growth tips?

I have shorter hair it's about a half inch past the nape of my neck I want to get it to my shoulders over the summer for freshman year. Do you think thats possible? if so,what are soem things I can do to have good, thick hair growth. I have it relaxed, would getting it spiral permed help?

I also really don't want to use weave and stuff because my mom is highly aginst it and I don't want to be fake.Black hair growth tips?
    First, let me say this:

YOU CAN NOT PERM YOUR HAIR AFTER YOU RELAX IT!!!!

All of your hair will fall out. Relaxing and perming break the chemical bonds of your hair and reform them to make your hair straight or curly. You can only do this once to your hair. If you want to get a perm, you will have to grow out the relaxed hair and that will take quite a few years.

Hair grows about 1/2'; every month. So if your break is 2-3 months, your hair will grow 1 - 1 1/2';.

You can massage your scalp and turn your head upside down, these increase blood flow to the scalp.

    Don't perm your hair!

Hope this helped!Black hair growth tips?
You should get your hair in braids.[Individuals to be precise]

ok how about spending $24 on hairfinity vitamins

i've heards NOTHING BUT GREAT things about their products which shows results in the first month. like 6 inches in a year or something. i'm going to try it out, not because i have hair growth problems but i'm going from permed to natural right now...of course i'm going to be losing much hair at this time. so i'm buying it to REPLACE the hair that has come out.

but TRY IT!!! i'm going to for sure. i might cut my hair then start using the pills. go look at their site. real pix of real ppl. not mixed chicks, but black girls with black hair and before and after pix. not like those fake sites
Realisticly your hair can't grow that much over summer. The best thing to do is make sure whoever does your relaxer does not to overlap on hair that has already been relaxed, this is highly damaging and can break it off easily. Get trims about once a month, half an inch at the MOST. Stay away from color, especially bleaching.Thats why a lot of people think white peoples hair grows faster, it really doesn't. Make sure to condition your hair, and remeber hair only grows about six inches a year. Good luck!
Do conditioning treatments 2 a month and take hair/nail vitamins I do this and My hair is at about my armpit level I get a perm 6-8 weeks and I braid my hair every 3-4 mths

If you take care of it it will grow quiet easily mine did and ive cut it twice dont forget to remove dead ends

Do not braid hair for more than 6 wks it will cause damage to the root my mom did that and it weakened the rootss

People who have actually gone though the process please respondDoes Cathy Howse's Ultra black Hair growth system work?
I haven't gone through her process but what she says is her book, is what I do anyway. Except she doesn't believe in getting ends trimmed, which is important to keep hair healthy. I don't think there is a special process needed to keep hair healthy.

it good for your heath but nor for your hair.
noo. my friend tried that but nothing happened.
Only the pubic hairs. Yes cucumbers.
Every black women dream to achieve long hair is here! Wash your hair every wk. with a thickening sham. %26amp; con. (try loreal). Use organic root stimulator carrot oil (use it once after every wash) not too much. You don't want your hair to be greasy because it will attract dust and makes your hair dirty and flat. Another good product is the Profectiv Mega growth. You can alternate between each time you wash your hair. You don't want your hair to get too use to a product it won't have the same effect after a while. Use heat (irons) once every too weeks as too much heat breaks your hair. Try to set your hair as well. It promotes growth as well. Perm hair every 2 mths and trim ends each time you perm. And you will definately achieve longer hair if you follow this.

ps. if your ends are dry, bring it back to life by applying setting lotion to the ends when u set ur hair. Trust it works... Have great lengths!
don't think so but other house holds foods are
    no this is a myth......

Any tips on black hair growth ?

i really want my hair to grow! im black and my hair tends to grow to a nice length and then break its horrible i used to have long hair when i was younger but now my hair is shoulder length and i want it to grow a bit longer any tips ??Any tips on black hair growth ?
Keep it well oiled. If your hair is dry, it is prone to break off.

Use hair growth creams. Do your research first, then make a smart purchase based on reviews and details found out.

Do not mix too many chemicals. Don't get too many perms consecutively. That could hurt it.

Limit your straightening to a couple of times a week.

If your hair is weak, avoid ponytails. try styles that allow your hair to be free, like brushed back with a headband.

Go to the hairstylist (for black people) about every 2 weeks, if you can afford it. If you can't, you're better off getting braids or getting your hair braided (but not too tightly) it helps hair grow stronger and more rapidly. Just don't keep them in for over 3 months.

Also research more on natural black hair care. Go to the shops. Ask the employees. Take in their suggestions and information, but don't be fooled by fishy tricks to get you to spend money or any information that could be misleading. Be smart.Any tips on black hair growth ?
Try checking these sites out (below), you can also go to u tube and find lots of informative videos.

Best of luck and it's do-able. Have seen a friend manage to grow hers out (but, wow, did she need a regimen!) in about 1.5 - 2 years, from very short and sort of scraggly to long, even and thick.
try mixing some coconut oil from whole foods with some vitamin e oil from cvs and put that on before you wash your hair. the shampoo with adp super gro shampoo and moisture with adp scalp food cream to stop any breakage. make sure that you cover your head with a scarf at night to keep it from getting stuck in the pillow. keep eating leafy foods with b vitamins and this will help your hair get over the hump.

  • Does a perm halt black hair growth?

I've been getting perms for as long as I can remember and tomorrow is my hair appointment. It's been 7 weeks since my last perm. I've been reading that perms damage hair and cause it to fall out but my hair seems heathly and gets trimmed every time I get a perm.

I also get a wrap all the time and my stylist puts this oil stuff in my hair while she's parting it. I go to a salon to get it done so am I safe?Does a perm halt black hair growth?
A relaxer, just like any other chemical process can damage your hair if you dont take good care of it.

Going to the salon is good. But whats even better is knowing your stylist is legit. Since you know your hair you are the only one who can say whats healthy and whats not. Having your hair grow naturally is really good but only if you know how to care for it. Just like relaxed hair.

Dont worry about what ppl have to say.Does a perm halt black hair growth?
It can definatly burn it up that's for sure... and yes, it'll start falling out (thinning).

It'll finally catch up with you, all it takes is one time, for someone to screw up bad, and you'll be devistated, and your hair will not be the same.
Yeah you are good. I have been dying my hair for almost 20 years and it is all still there and very healthy looking.

Try the Hair Skin and Nails vitamins at your local wal-mart. A friend of mine tried them and her hair grew tremendously. Also let your hair rest. Try not to put too much heat, pin it up in a pony tail or cute bun.

Try collagen caplets. They make your skin softer and your hair longer. I noticed results like in two weeks.
    .

What products or vitamin would you recommend for black hair growth?

Well for one try using Mane N' Tail Horse Shampoo. I use it all the time and it makes your hair grow faster. You can find it at walmart in the pet section. also you should drink plenty of water to condition your hair and when shampooing and conditioning you should use cold or

luke warm water on your hair so it won't damage it. Even hot water hurts your hair.

Head on over to the Long Hair Care Forum! http://www.longhaircareforum.com

It is a site with a plethora of information on how to obtain and maintain healthy black hair.

The greatest thing about it is that it clears up a lot of misconceptions about black hair. Here are two:

    - Grease contains petrolatum, which acts as a barrier; preventing any moisture from getting to the roots of your hair. Greasing over time will cause excessive build-up, and build-up will prevent growth.

    - Washing the hair frequently does not dry the hair out! What actually causes the ';dry'; feeling is shampoo. Most shampoos in the black hair care aisle contain ingredients called Sulfates. Sulfates are EXTREMELY harsh detergents that strip the hair, and, over time, can cause the hair to become dry, and eventually split and break.

    Stop by to read more!

I'm a member. When I joined, I had neck-length hair, which was so thin you could see through it. I also had a lot of breakage. After being a member for a few months, my hair has become SO much more healthier than ever before! The information on that site has helped me tremendously.

It's a subscription site ($5 a year), but you can view all of the hair care forums for free, without having to sign up, but the membership fee is worth it, because that way you can post questions and pictures, and things like that.

Check it out, you won't be disappointed!
Well, theres the hairgrowth oil on this site-
